Candle Arch "Birth of Christ"

(Size 75 cm x 34cm x 51cm)

Christianity and the faith associated with it was and is strongly represented all over the world, in many countries and regions, including here in the Ore Mountains.

Until now, the Klaus Kolbe factory has focused on mining in order to show and figuratively depict how hard and under what sometimes undignified conditions people, i.e. our ancestors, had to work to earn their truly modest living. Back then, faith helped them to survive these dark times, the lack of light and the cramped conditions underground.

It is precisely this faith, in a helping God and the hope for a better future, that connects the miners with biblical history. In order to incorporate precisely this aspect of that time into our historical representations, we took up the motif of the birth of Christ. In 2012, a mechanically movable candle arch was created, which wonderfully showcases the scene of the birth of the baby Jesus in detailed and filigree work.

Nativity of Christ

Based on this, a stationary model was developed. In the light of the candles, this candle arch fills the room with peace and contemplation, creates trust in people and joy about a small event that has had a big impact. It shows Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus, who is embedded in a manger, surrounded by the animals of the stable, adored and given gifts by the three wise men from the East and admired by the shepherds who ran from the area around Bethlehem to attend this very special event.

The mood that emanates from the figures and the illuminated city of Jerusalem in the background is intended to stimulate reflection, but above all to awaken trust in God and hope, just like in people back then.
